Every Android pull request check fails the same way: the job runs in the Gradle image, which has no Node, and the first step is the checkout action, a JavaScript action the runner starts with node. The job dies at checkout in under 30 seconds, before Gradle or any changed file can matter, so the check has never been able to pass on a pull request that touches the wrapper. This installs Node 22.14.0 from the official tarball as the first step, the same version and method the GitLab job uses, so checkout and upload-artifact can run.
